Savannah {Spotsylvania High}
If you’re not a morning person, I am right there with you…BUTTTT when I tell you sunrise senior sessions are some of the best, I’m not exaggerating. There are so many things to love about a sunrise session:
- The sun isn’t as harsh in the morning which gives you such beautiful lighting.
- I can’t pin point what it is, but there is something so calm and peaceful about the morning (maybe the fact that everyone is still asleep haha!).
- You have the entire downtown practically to yourself since nothing is open yet.
- You don’t have to worry about finding a parking spot, dodging cars, or people in the early morning.
- You never run out of sunlight, so if your session lasts a little longer, it’s allll good!
- During the summer months, the weather is perfect during the early mornings. No need to worry about sweating off your makeup.
- You have all day to show off your professional hair and makeup 😉
- And let’s face it, we are all so busy, but a sunrise session most likely won’t interfere with any of your comittments.
I highly recommend scheduling your senior session during sunrise IF you’re wanting a weekend session and/or if you want to do your session downtown/any other crowded location.
Want to know when the sunrises the latest? Here are some of the latest sunrise times for Virginia (on average).
- Late September- 7:00am
- Early October- 7:00-7:30am
- Mid-October to November 5 (day light savings): 7:30-8:00am
- Mid-November to Mid-December: 7:00-7:45am
- Late December-Mid-January: 7:45-8:00am
Now that I have maybe sold you on sunrise sessions, let’s talk about Savannah! We met before sunrise to get her hair and makeup done and she looked incredible! We arrived to our first location and discovered that it was more humid than we thought. Camera lenses are similar to eye glasses. If it’s super humid, the lens will immediately fog up (especially if it has been sitting in an air conditioned room). As we waited for my lens to de-fog, I enjoyed catching up with Savannah about her plans for senior year and beyond. She wants to be an engineer one day…hello brains and beauty!
We caught the perfect morning sun in the garden and eventually made our way around Chatham Manor to take in the beautiful view of Downtown Fredericksburg. After a couple outfit changes, we drove to a street downtown that is lined with perfectly bloomed crape myrtles, my favorite! Right on the corner of this street is a cute coffee shop. Savannah loves coffee and used to work at a Dunkin Donuts, so I suggested she get a coffee and take some photos outside the shop, I mean why not?! The sun was beaming, giving Savannah the most gorgeous glow. I loved that the coffee shop added such a unique twist to Savannah’s senior gallery. One of my favorite parts of senior sessions is incorporating the senior’s personality and that’s exactly what this coffee shop did for Savannah. This is your reminder to choose locations that represent you!
I had such a fun morning with Savannah and it was a good reminder to myself that sunrise sessions are pretty darn amazing! I will definitely be suggesting them more often in the future!
If you are a procrastinator who hasn’t booked their senior session yet, what are you waiting for!? Senior year only happens once and having a gallery of images that reflect your four years of high school is something you will look back on for the rest of your life!
