Edisto Island, South Carolina

Before I get into how much I LOVE beach sessions, let me tell you the backstory leading up to Emily’s dreamy maternity session.

My Mom messaged my siblings and me one night letting us know that she and my Dad were using their timeshare for an anniversary trip in August (I hope there’s no grammar police reading this because that sentence was really hard for me…is it “me and my siblings”, “my siblings and I”, “my Dad and her”, “my Dad and she”????). Being the parents that they are, they invited us to crash their anniversary trip. Unfortunately, the week fell during my first week back to school, so I had planned on not going (not to mention my husband refuses to fly but that’s besides the point).

A couple months later, my Mom convinced me to book a flight for a long weekend to join them since some of my other siblings were going. Fast forward a couple more months, I accepted a new teaching job in a different county. A couple weeks before the trip I found out that my schedule wasn’t the same as my previous school and our very first day for students fell on the same Thursday I had planned to fly out. I knew it wouldn’t look good to take off the first day of school at a new job, so I changed my flight to Friday evening. I bolted out of school to head to the airport. I don’t fly often and this was my first time flying alone. I was petrified that I was going to miss my flight because I had about an hour and a half to get to my gate before boarding according to my ETA. Well, joke was on me because I got through security in record time just to find out that my flight was delayed. I ended up sitting in the airport for three hours until my flight finally took off (but shout out to Amanda, my airport buddy, I hope my phone charger is treating you well LOL). Needless to say, my Friday night plans with my siblings were ruined and now I have just barely 48 hours before I am back at the airport.

My siblings graciously drove an hour to and from the airport until we finally got to our condo in Edisto Island around 12:30am. Emily, my sister-in-law, and I had planned on doing some beach photos for each other some time during the weekend (prior to my flight change and delays). The weather wasn’t looking good for Saturday night, so our only option was to wake up early Saturday morning. We made the decision that if we both woke up early enough (without an alarm) we would go to the beach and take photos of each other. The next morning we both woke up around 7:30 and THANK GOODNESS we did! I can’t imagine missing out on the opportunity to take these gorgeous maternity photos of my beautiful sister-in-law. This baby boy is already so loved & I’m honored that I get to be his Aunt in four short months!

The weekend was short & the weather wasn’t great for the 48 hours I was there, but this maternity shoot made it all worth it! A lot of times, I find my clients hesitant to ask me to travel to a destination of their dreams, but what they don’t realize is that most of the time they are destinations of my dreams, too!! So, here is your sign to book the maternity session and choose the location of your dreams, you’ll thank me later!
